What this page covers

A website can leave small pieces of data in your browser. A cookie is one kind. Your browser’s “local storage” is another. This page calls all of them cookies, and lists every one this website uses.

It covers atome.sh only. The Atome product (app.atome.sh) is a separate service.

What needs your consent

This site stores nothing that needs your consent.

A service that measures visits or shows advertising may store or read something on your device only after you have said yes. When this website uses one, it is listed here, and you are asked before it is loaded.

What is stored without asking

The law does not ask for consent when something is stored only to provide a service you asked for, or to remember a setting you chose. This website stores the following on that basis.

NameKindSet byKeptWhat it is for
site-themeBrowser storageAtomeuntil you clear itRemembers the light or dark appearance you picked. Written only when you pick one. The switch is turned off for now, so nothing is written today.
site-langBrowser storageAtomeuntil you clear itRemembers the language you picked in the footer, so the website opens in it on your next visit. Written only when you pick one.

Reading the pages of this website sets no cookie. Something is stored only when you pick a language or a setting yourself, and each item is in the table above.

Your language

When you first open an English page, the website reads the languages your browser asks for. If it asks for French or Portuguese before English, the website shows you that version of the page. Your browser sends this list with every request; the website reads it in your browser and stores nothing for it.

If you pick a language in the footer, your choice is stored in this browser under site-lang, and the website opens in that language on your next visit. Pick another language to change it. Clearing your browser’s data for this website removes it.

The question box

The FAQ has a box where you can type a question. It stores nothing in your browser: no cookie and no other item.

Audience measurement

To know how many people visit this website and which pages they read, we use Rybbit, a measurement tool we run ourselves on our own server in the European Union (an.atome.sh). No other company receives this data.

  • It sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser.
  • It records the page, the page you came from, your browser, device type and country. It does not keep your IP address: a visit is recognised for one day by a code made from your address and your browser, and the code changes every day.
  • It also counts that a question was asked in the FAQ, without the question.
  • The data is kept for 12 months, is used only for statistics about this website, and is never combined with other data.

Because it stores nothing on your device and only produces statistics, it does not need your consent. You can still opt out: stop measuring my visits. This is remembered in this browser.

How you are asked

When a service that needs your consent is in use, a panel opens on your first visit, at the bottom of the screen.

  • Accept all and Reject all are side by side, the same size.
  • Customise shows each category with its own switch, and what is in it. Every switch is off until you turn it on.
  • Nothing is loaded and nothing is stored until you choose.
  • You can read and use the page while the panel is open.

Your choice is remembered for 6 months in a cookie named atome-consent. It holds your choice, the date you made it, and a code for the list you were shown. You are asked again after 6 months, and sooner if the list of services changes.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Accept all leaves marketing off. You can still turn it on yourself under Customise.

How to change your choice

When there is a choice to change, the footer of every page has a Cookie settings link. It opens the same panel.

If you turn a category off, what its services stored is deleted, and the page reloads without them.

How to block or delete cookies in your browser

Every browser can show, delete and block cookies, in its privacy settings. If you block all cookies, this website still works. Your answer to the panel is then forgotten each time, so you are asked again.

Changes to this page

The date at the top says when the text of this page last changed. The lists are written by the website itself, so they always show what it uses now.
